Raymond
J. Wohl
Upon graduating from Strongsville High School, Mr. Wohl furthered his education at
Kent State University and Dyke College where he graduated with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Business with a major in Real Estate.
Mr. Wohl started in the
business world as a licensed real estate salesman with EMMCO and Associates, a
commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in development, and leasing
of shopping centers, industrial, and office buildings throughout Northeastern
Ohio. Mr. Wohl specialized in tenant
representation of office buildings throughout his six years at EMMCO and
Associates. During this period, Mr. Wohl completed the requirements and
received his commercial real estate Brokers License.
He was elected Trustee of
National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), where he chaired
various programs and was voted by his peers in Greater Cleveland, as a finalist
for Broker of the Year. During this
time he was also active with the Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland,
Cleveland Area Board of Realtors and the Ohio Association of Realtors.
In 1986, Mr. Wohl founded
the RJ Wohl Company, a commercial industrial real estate company specializing
in tenant representation, leasing of shopping centers, office, and industrial
buildings. During this period, he was
elected as a Trustee to CleveTrust Realty Investors (NASDAQ). During his terms on the board of directors,
his duties included acquisitions of office buildings, shopping centers and
hotels through the Midwest United States on behalf of this Real Estate
Investment Trust (REIT). The RJ Wohl
Company developed into one of the areas leading tenant representation firms in
Northeastern Ohio. On behalf of his
clients, the RJ Wohl Company has represented companies in thirteen states
through the United States. These
clients included Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company, LTV Steel and Ford Motor
Company and other fortune 100 companies.
He is also involved in the
City of Middleburg Heights where he served as a Councilman for eighteen years,
ten of which were as President of Council.
Further, Mr. Wohl served as a Trustee to Woodvale Cemetery, and is an
Honorary Member of the Middleburg Heights Chamber of Commerce.
In 1993, Mr. Wohl was
elected as the Clerk of Courts for the Berea Municipal Court, representing the
communities of Berea, Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted
Township, Strongsville, MetroParks, and Ohio State Patrol. During his tenure as
Clerk of Courts he was elected by his peers to serve as Sergeant of Arms,
Treasurer, Vice President and had the honor of serving as President in 1998 of
the Northeast Ohio Municipal Court Clerks Association. In addition, Mr. Wohl is a member of the
Ohio Municipal Court Clerks Association, where he serves as Chairman of the
Elected Municipal Court Clerks in the State of Ohio and is a member of the
National Center for State Courts and National Association for Court Management.
In 1999, Mr. Wohl was
re-elected to another six-year term as Clerk of Courts. He has attended various seminars and
training programs through out the country, including Kent State University
College of Continuing Studies and the Institute for Court Management in St.
Louis, Missouri. In March 2000, he completed the Professional Development
program for the Ohio Association of Municipal Court Clerks (OAMCC). In January of 2004, Mr. Wohl had the honor
and privilege of being appointed to a three-year term by the Honorable Supreme
Court Justice Terrence O’Donnell of the Ohio Supreme Court, to the Traffic
Rules Review Commission. In May of
2004, Mr. Wohl was awarded a certificate by Kent State University College of Continuing
Studies, in recognition of faithful completion of the Ohio Association of
Municipal/County Clerks Professional Development Program. Further, in May of 2004, Mr. Wohl was
elected as a Trustee to the Board of Directors of the Ohio Association of Municipal/County
Clerks. In November 2005, Mr. Wohl was
re-elected to a new six year term beginning January 1, 2006.
In September 2008, Mr. Wohl had the honor and privilege of being inducted into the
Strongsville High
School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
On March 21, 2009, Mr. Wohl was honored with being named the Person of the Year for Southwest General Health Center. Southwest General Health Center is located in Middleburg Heights, Ohio and for the past three years has been named one of the top fifty health facilities in the United States. Mr. Wohl has served for over 20 years in various positions on the Board and was Chairman of the annual “Tiara” which is a major fundraiser for Southwest General Health Center. During his time as Chairman he and his committee raised over 1 million dollars to benefit Southwest General Health Center and its philanthropies. Mr. Wohl is currently serves as the Treasurer for the Southwest General Health Center Board of Trustees..
Mr. Wohl is a veteran of
the United States Armed Forces and is an auxiliary member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Post 3345 in Strongsville, Ohio.
Ray and his wife Gloria are residents of Middleburg Heights, and are
life-long residents of the Berea Municipal Court District.
